This Year's Annual Conference Highlights

Friday September 14 2007
New user? Or experienced with a few questions? Signup for the ASCD Software Clinic run by the committee and ISCD Trainers. We called this session ‘The Manic Morning’ a few years ago when Ray Becker was here for CCC2 in Coolum, Queensland and the name has stuck. Free to ASCD members but registration essential (call 02 8436 9929 or e-mail cpd@adansw.com.au).
After a light lunch, the conference proper opens. Dr Armen Mirzayan will be presenting five lectures on all aspects of chairside ceramics during three days of the conference. After a break he’ll continue and talk about the use of the exciting new materials available. Dr Wayne Martin will also present in the afternoon lasers and how to get the most out of them in general practice. That evening the Annual ASCD Cocktail Party takes place right after in the Crowne Plaza-this is always a relaxed and comfortable start to the CADCAMCON - meet old friends and make some new ones! (Dinner on Friday night is at delegate’s pleasure).

Saturday September 15, 2007
We start with Dr Mirzayan’s next presentation, handling large cases and doing quadrant dentistry efficiently. We’re very pleased to announce that Sirona are sponsoring Mr Michael Dunn to speak in Australia for the first time. Michael was Clinical Marketing Manager for Sirona in the USA and has now taken over from Roddy Macleod as Software Product Manager for Sirona based in Germany. Michael has a wealth of information about the new software, the new hardware, and the future, and he should be great to listen to.
Armen speaks again after lunch, this time on restoring implants. In the afternoon we have planned for speakers on the Procad and E-max CAD blocks, we hear from prothodontist Dr Mehmet Ohkutan about research he’s been doing and we finish day 2 with the ASCD Practice Management Forum, where Dr Patrick Meaney will interview Dr Brad Wright about the secrets of financial success in dental practice. ASCD current President Brad has worked hard and he's worked smart, and he'll share his secrets-some of them obvious and most of them real gems that might surprise even experienced dentists. As well as that Dr Richard Huebl will talk about his experiences as one of Australia's longest-term CEREC users. Richard bought his Cerec 1 when they were powered by steam and small rodents running in a cage and he's done over 20,000 bonded ceramic restorations since then. He'll share his experiences-good and bad-with the audience.

Saturday night is the ASCD Annual Dinner held this year at the Sydney Convention centre with sweeping views of the city by night. Wine writer, wine show judge and general wine expert Huon Hooke is our very special guest speaker. If you don’t know Huon, he’s been writing and speaking about wine for more than 20 years and should be an excellent after-dinner treat (extra tickets available for spouses on registration).

Sunday September 16, 2007
Sunday
kicks off with the ASCD annual meeting, followed Armen Mirzayan's last presentation, on Anterior Tooth Restoration. We’ve asked Dr Tony Simeone to speak on the computerised occlusal analyser, T-Scan. Lastly we welcome Michael Dunn back to conduct the Future Forum. These sessions are very important to the future development of the software; Sirona historically have listened very hard to users to add improvements and break new ground. Don’t miss it! We finish the conferencewith a light lunch around 1.30pm.

During the Conference
• Register for staining and glazing clinics held as break-out sessions.
• Trade display featuring all you need to know about computerised dentistry.
